Survive PA school: Didactic Part 2

Hopefully, you already read the first blog post on surviving PA school. If not, that's right here. In addition to figuring out a good study routine for yourself, my next advice would be to take care of yourself.

You really need to be in the right headspace to survive and thrive in PA school. Get your team assembled: family, friends, significant others. Get used to the idea that you're going to make personal sacrifices for this. But it's only a year!

Another really important thing to keep in mind is your physical health. Eat healthy, exercise, sleep enough. I gained 20 pounds during didactic year! Granted I was breastfeeding, so I blame it on that....

Get a stand-up desk attachment for your desk at home. They're around 130$ and totally worth it. If you can, also get a little walking treadmill or stair stepper for your desk, it's so worth it. I just got my treadmill recently and am kicking myself for not having it years ago. Go outside and get some natural light in the morning. Don't scroll on your phone all the time. If you have time to scroll, you have time to go on a 5 minute walk and listen to a lecture instead. Install an app like Opal or another one that limits your social media usage.

SLEEP enough, I'll say it again. Make sure you're getting 7 hours of sleep a night. Staying up late to study just isn't worth it.

Keep some time for yourself. Dedicate Friday evenings to not studying, or Sunday mornings always make brunch at home and walk to a coffee shop. Whatever it is, don't let that go. Personally, I dedicated Saturday mornings to my family and Friday evenings to watching a show and reading some kind of urban fantasy on my Kindle. any other tips? leave a comment below!
